Cherry Picker for Chimney Mouldings

For some months now, we have been waiting for the mouldings for our chimney to arrive. Because work on the chimney was not finished, it has been holding up the work on the roof cladding.

Anyway, our mouldings arrived and we were going to erect a scaffold through the roof-frame to do the work on the chimney. However, it was cheaper to hire an Elevated Work Platform (around A$290 per day). I booked in the hire of the EVP, but it kept raining on the days we wanted to use it. It took four attempts to hire it, before the weather was fine.

The chimney is about 4 meters in from the edge of the building, and about 6 meters high. Our cherry picker could just reach it. The mouldings are made of "reconstituted" sandstone, so they are very heavy ....that was another reason to get the cherry picker instead of using scaffold.

It took a full day to complete the work. We laid an extra 6 courses on the chimney, then cut the mouldings to fit, and then laid one more course, and fitted the chimney damper.

It looks great now.
